Lord Ganesha is the bestower of Success, Intelligence, Education, Knowledge, Wisdom, Art, Talent as well as Wealth & Prosperity. Lord Ganesha is the Son of Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati. Lord Ganesha is also known as Vighnaharta (Remover of Obstacles) and is worshipped first before any auspicious ritual or ocassion. He is ever-blissful and is devotedly worshipped by millions of people worldwide. Lord Ganesha is also known as Vignaharta, Ashtavinayaka, Ekadanta, Gajanana, Vakratunda and Ganpati. The Auspicious recital "Om" is a manifestation of Lord Ganesha and therefore it is recited prior to any other ritualistic recitals. In Om, the upper arc is said to be the face of Lord Ganesha. The lower arc is his belly. The twisted arc which is on the right side of the Om is his trunk. Thus Omkara represents the complete physical form of Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is worshipped for Riddhi (Wealth), Siddhi (Success) & Buddhi (Intelligence). Four arms of Lord Ganesha indicates that the Lord is omnipresent and omnipotent. The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata. The Lotus in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be continuous. The Laddoo (sweet) he holds in his trunk indicates that one must discover the sweetness of soul. His fan-like ears convey that he is all ears to our petition. Mouse is the Vahan or Vehicle of Lord Ganesha and Ganesha shown always riding or attending the mouse.
