Information about Online Kamakhya Kavach Path and Puja

Goddess Kamakhya is believed to be the most powerful Tantarik Goddess of Desire, and her temple known as Kamakhya Temple is situated in Nilanchan Hills, west of Guwahati in Assam, is considered as one of the most powerful Shakti Peeth related to Goddess Sati. It is believed that the womb and vagina of Shakti are present in this Temple. Goddess Kamakhya is considered to live in a stone Yoni at this temple.

As per Hindu Mythology, Goddess Sati married to Lord Shiva against wishes of her Father Daksha Prajapati. Once her father organized a Yagna, where he did not invite Lord Shiva. However, Sati went to attend this Yagna organized by her father against the wishes of Lord Shiva. However, Daksha Prajapati started insulting Lord Shiva in presence of all the attendees of Yagna. Sati could not bear this insult of her husband, and hence killed herself there itself. When Lord Shiva came to know about this, he was filled with extreme rage and he carried the dead body of Sati on his shoulders, and started performing Tandava, which could have destroyed the entire universe. Hence, Lord Vishnu cut the body of Sati into 51 pieces by using Sudarshan Chakra. All the places where these pieces of Goddess Sati fell are referred to as the Shakti Peeth.

Kamakhya is the place where the Yoni part of Goddess Sati fell. This place was discovered by God Kaamdeva, and he worshipped there to free himself from the curse and regain his original beauty. It is due to this reason that the entire place of Kamakhya is known as Kamarupa and the deity herself is called Kamakhya.
